1. features adelina larsson dancing.

shot in a black box studio as an exercise in handheld filming, relationship between camera and dancer, and editing to create the choreography.

  4. a minor success

adelina and i received word that we were successful in applying for funding from ArtsACT.

the funding is for stage one of a screendance project, which will involve us working from January to June in 2009 on developing material and examining our individual and joint practices.

the project is titled (in the grant - but perhaps will change) It’s impossible to walk without taking your feet off the ground

as part of the project we will be keeping a blog to track the process and invite responses and feedback… details coming.

  5. Taut is a short dance film I made towards the end of 2007.

It was a re-edit of a longer draft work I had made in the middle of 2007 and was featured as part of the Dance Screen event at the Sydney Festival in Jan 2008 and then followed on as part of Danceflicks at Dancehouse (Melbourne) in May 2008.

I think I actually prefer the longer work and will upload it soon.

  6. please excuse the terrible buzz. not sure why that’s there.

this is a short performance by Adelina Larsson and I at Precipice early last weekend.

shot in HD on a Sony HDR-SR12, so should be available as HD (always nice to have a first).

Music: “Gay sons of lesbian mothers” by Kaki King.
    Camera: Peter Trotman

  8. selection

i just found out that my short dance film Ready was selected to screen at Cinedans this year.

    very exciting.

made by myself and Paea Leach.

think i might upload it to vimeo even though it’s already on youtube. does doubling up matter?

  9. video footage taken by John Corbet. performance was part of the little con Feb 29 7pm - 9pm at Dancehouse, Melbourne.

the evening was heavily timetabled for the 2 hours with 30 or so dancers each getting various arbitrary durations in various locations. the audience and performers were free to move the boxes around and reconfigure the space.

this was a 5 minute spot missing the first minute, which was mostly just moving boxes around.

[edit]this is my first upload to vimeo and was done via the tumblr interface. all went fine, no problems. when i went to the vimeo site i realised that the lack of context means i should be naming more in the video and adding better tags - because these come from the tumblr side of things.

so, for further clarity, the dancers are Jacob Lehrer and myself, David Corbet. if you’re reading this on vimeo, then you can find my tumblelog at:
