1. vimeo on the iphone

because of issues with video playback on iphones it’s not possible to view vimeo videos. but there’s a little web service that can convert any rss video feed into an iphone compatible website.

    nice huh.

here’s my vimeo channel for iphone:

  3. i just signed up for Instapaper, which is a nifty little online service for storing stuff you want to read later.

i now have a link in my toolbar that says “Read Later”, and when there’s something i find that i don’t have time to read i can bookmark it with read later and then access that from anywhere.

not particularly mindblowing, but it does work on your iphone :)

  5. iband ischmand

well the iband has really taken off hasn’t it? newspapers are doing stories on them now.

personally, i don’t really get the hype (and aesthetically i don’t really like the music). is it a proof of concept thing that is making waves? the applications are not particularly advanced nor do they innovate on synthesis, sequencing or digital signal processing.

sure, they’re cute interfaces for triggering sound. and very portable - although you still need a diffusion system that’s external.

but my laptop is portable - and if i run live i can trigger sound, add effects in realtime, sequence midi, record audio (still need a good set of external speakers though - and i suppose my battery won’t last as long). then there’s max/msp which goes further and i can use a graphics tablet to do what i need. even better i could get a modified mactablet and use a stylus. and none of these tools are particularly difficult to use (steep learning curve with max/msp if you’ve never done any object oriented programming though).

so, what’s the hype about? am i missing something?
