1. scott mitchell and rory hyde have many fascinating projects on the go. this one is their first project as part of Open Source Urbanism, which is exploring information expression in public spaces.

what i love about the spoke-o-dometer project and the blog is that is a great example of open source development which has been clearly documented and credited - so it’s possible to see where source code came from and also see how it was integrated into the project and finally have access to the final code developed by the project. bloody great. plus it looks so cool! i’d love to have it on my bike.

  2. this is a lovely little flash based site about an art/science project that sent data into deep space about the lived experience of humanity (as opposed to the transmissions to date that have been much more didactic).

excellent flash work and video/sound integration.

    nice work.

  3. i was a little disappointed to read my blog type as being “Conservative by nature they are often reluctant to take any risks whatsoever. “

    can’t be true. can it?

  5. obama’s speech in HD. vimeo staff want them to remove it because of copyright issues. some heartfelt comments appealing for it to stay. download it while you can ;)

  6. there were a couple of coding tools i hadn’t seen before.

including this little gem (not really for design or coding - but useful).

  7. i love this website.

it assesses implicit prejudices on a range of subjects or areas. i’ve done a couple of the assessments as part of my course (looking at doctors attitudes towards obese people) and just checked it out again.

it’s hilarious, they’ve got one for obama and mccain.

who do you have an implicit preference for? ;)

  8. i’ve been playing with a few adobe air apps.

and this is one of the highlights for me. a scrolling list of subjects from your favourite feeds - click and get the post. not so great for detailed blogs that i follow, but great for an overview of some of the medical news feeds i subscribe to.

  9. This is another 2 second screendance work. It was made in 2006 when Simon Ellis and I were on a residency at PICA (also with Paea Leach involved). This was an attempt to convey explicit narrative in 50 frames - with a little help from the title.

    Plenty more at microflicks.net
    Uploaded to Vimeo group Screendance.

Dancer Simon Ellis, David Corbet, Paea Leach.
    Editor/Sound David Corbet.

  10. i set up a group for screendance on vimeo. hoping people will add what they consider to be screendance. there are a couple of groups for video dance already on vimeo. most are as empty as this one.

upload if you’ve got something to contribute.
